Metro 2033 Redux App Reviews
Once I got the right driver from Nvidia the game ran amazingly on max settings. Looks amazing, plays amazing and is scary as hell. Well made game, to bad there is no co op.
Exceptionally slow with tremendous latency. Near impossible to play as everything is in slow motion, even at the lowest resolution/settings. I have the highest spec’d Macbook Pro and it can’t keep up. Tech support is a black hole, so buy at your own risk
This game really needs improvements. The frame rate is so awful that for all intensive purposes, it is not playable. I have a good system (3.5 ghz intel core i7 with 16 GB 1600 MHZ DDr3 ram and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M with 4 GB of ram and this game skips way too much. They need to patch this game and do a lot of optimization before this will playable. I want a refund.
This game could probably be really fun; however, it is so laggy on my system that it is impossible to play. I have one of the newest macs and the game is still coming up extremely laggy with my processor. Until there is an update on the bugs and all of that, do not buy the game. I would gladly change the rating on the review had the lag gone away. I want a refund on my purchase because this is not what the game should be.
The Initial release date: March 16, 2010 - Why is this being sold on App Store when no consumer mac will play the game, unless you consider a current 4K iMac Retina or Mac Pro as a machine marketed to the avergare consumer. Who do I contact for a refund.
I have the most recent MacBook Pro 15” laptop (maxed out hw) and this game - at the lowest possible video settings - runs like a slideshow. It’s pitiful. Total waste of money.
I’ve purchased other Metro games and enjoy the storyline, but the performance of this game is horrible. For example when you turn it’s like the game is in slow motion, and this is using a new Macbook Pro computer that runs other games, including another Metro game, without any issues. If they can get the technical issues fixed I’m sure it would be good, but at this point it’s unplayable.
This game is one of best shooters to give good gameplay and an immersive story. Many people say they have issues running Metro 2033 on their computers. Though the loading times for each level are long and the audio before each level gets cut up, performance is not an issue. I have an 11 inch MacBook Air with a 1.4 GHz processor. This game runs fine with the setting the computer already set up. Issues with performance occur because people demand to much out of their computers. Lets face it, Mac’s are not meant for gamers. But this game only runs into problems when I try to set up graphics that are to high for my computer to run. Even on the lowest settings, the game looks superb, far better then the original Metro 2033 on the PC. Final points: This is a great game with long loading times, but if you use the graphics set up for you on the game launch, you will be fine. If not, lower the graphincs a bit. I play on the lowest settings possible, and my God does this game run fine.
Thanks to MzGaming1’s review, I took a chance, and I’m glad I did! I experienced exactly the glitches he mentions, and a few more here and there, but this game is so worth it! The actual gameplay at the default settings is superb. (MacBook Pro 2013)
Game is great. Everything else isn’t.
This is among my favorites with games. I figured id buy it for my MacBook Air as I travel a lot and lugging my console isn’t practical. The devs claim the pc version supports (xbox) controller. However every single time I try to play, there is something that is causing the game to be unplayable. Forcing my camera up and unable to stop it, forcing the aiming and firing non stop. Buttons not mapped correctly. If you, like me and way too accustomed to controller and find it hard to play games via key and mouse, do not and I do mean. DO NOT buy this game expecting the ability to play with controller. You’ll not only waste your time but money as well. (Yes! I have the same issues from Apple Store and Steam.)
Great Until Can't Go Any Further...
In the scene where Artyon meet Khan and they walk through the tunnel, encountering the 'shadows', Khan boards the train, you hear a little girl crying out for her mom, and then nothing happens. You can't walk through the spiderwebs, Khan says nothing and just stands there. Nothing triggers the next event or queues to next move forward. Game stuck with no resolution. If this bug were fixed, I would have given Metro 2033 Redux 5 stars. Broken and can't play - 1 star. :-(
Running on M1 Mac Mini
Works fine, a few hiccups on loading screens but nothing that takes away from gameplay. Runs great in Rosetta 2 on my 1080p monitor with AirPods Pro. The people are very slightly dated but otherwise the gameplay is just as fast and furious as you'd probably want. I'm new to the franchise so I started with Exodus and working backwards (making sure the games still run, of course).
Good on current gen
I am playing on a 2020 13 Inch M1 Macbook Pro with 8 GB of memory and the game runs perfect even on very high graphics, alot of the bad reviews are very old so watch out if you are on a older macbook
Don't waste your money
The game doesn't run well, the controls are clunky, and if you try to use a controller good luck. The mapping for controlls would look right if you open the configrations but is completely wrong. Game looked cool and might be fun if it worked but it doesn't
100% Awesome!!!
I'd read the previous reviews before purchasing and was skeptical at first, but this game runs 100% smoothly. No issues. The loading screen before each level would freeze with the audio, but it was just to load the game and everything was smooth and perfect after. I highly recomend this game to anyone who loves a good shooter game that also includes some stealth work and heavy thought into each decision you make. Make your decisions count and make every bullet count. Very realistic and 100% perfect! Try for yourself
Beware
The is really good when it works. The graphics, story, gameplay, etc all really pull you in. The only problem is the game is not optimized well at all. I am playing on 3.46Ghz 12-core Mac Pro, with 32 GB of Rama and nVidia GeForce GTX 770 2GB. Even on the lowest graphical settings, when there are lots of NPC or big open environments, the frame rate takes a heavy dive. So beware before you buy.
Read the 1 Star reviews and avoid

DO NOT BUY!!! - Good storyline but terrible performance issues

Will not play on MacBook Pro 15 Retina

Needs Performance Fix for NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 MB
This needs a patch ASAP for NVIDIA GeForce. Otherwise it might be a good game, cannot be played as is.
Dont bother buying this
